1st NARBO IWRM Executive Retreat on Leadership in River Basins held in Malang East Java Indonesia on 20-22 June 2011, and International Seminar on Corporate River Basin Organizations

in Asia held in Malang East Java Indonesia on 22-24 June 2011.

 

 

NARBO convened the 1st IWRM Executive Retreat on Leadership in River Basins (the Retreat). It was held in Malang, Indonesia on 20-22 June, and 32 delegates from 11 countries including RBO leaders, IWRM executives, invited speakers and NARBO’s management team have participated in the Retreat.


The Retreat aims to share executive’s experiences supported by case studies of effective leadership in their river basins, and explore key for success in i) Leadership across organizations in the basin, ii) Leadership within organizations and iii) Personal leadership.


NARBO organized the International Seminar on Corporate River Basin Organizations in Asia (the Seminar) with support of Perum Jasa Tirta 1 Public Corporation (PJT1), and Centre for River Basin Organizations and Management (CRBOM). 67 delegates from RBO champions, decision makers, academics and practitioner of IWRM from 17 countries participated. Intensive discussions on (i) strength and weakness of existing type of RBOs in Asia; (ii) application and performance of corporate and quasi-corporate RBOs; and (iii) how governments can determine an appropriate RBO model were proceeded.
