NARBO Secretariat is now actively preparting for the coming IWRM Training. The 6th NARBO IWRM Training is now planned to be held in November. Based on the evaluation of the 5th training at the Technical Advisary Committee held on June 25, 2009, at PUB, Singapore, preparation work for the training is now undertakedn within NARBO Secretariat and details of the training will be announced soon. According to the charter of NARBO, the goal of NARBO will be help to achieve IWRM in river basins throughout Asia. NARBO’s objective will be to strengthen the capacity and effectiveness of RBOs in promoting IWRM and improving water governance, through training and the exchange of information and experience among RBOs and their associated water sector agencies and knowledge partner organizations in Asia and to advise on the establishment of NARBO’s in Asia. Based on above mentioned background, NARBO’s IWRM Training is a flagship event of NARBO and 5 training cources were conducted as shown in the following table.
Distinctive features of the coming IWRM training is ‘IWRM Guidelines at River Basin Level’. The 2nd TAC also recommends the guidelines as a textbook and NARBO secretariat is now preparing the detailed sessions in which the guidelines will be utilized. The training with the guidelines will enhance your capacity and make you become confident in implementing IWRM in your basin. Through NARBO’s IWRM Training, we believe that participants can obtain not only the useful knowledge and techniques of promoting IWRM but also the networking among the participants. Report on the 5th IWRM training is provided at NARBO website and discussion in the 2nd TAC is summerized in the NARBO Newsletter No.18.
