NARBO secretariat conducted the sixth NARBO IWRM Training (the sixth Training) in Da Nang, Viet Nam, from 30 November 2009 to 7 December 2009, which was hosted by the Vu Gia–Thu Bon (VGTB) River Basin Organization and People’s Committee of Da Nang City and Quang Nam Province with supported from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), Government of Viet Nam.
(>>See more)We are exceptionally lucky to have been selected by Viet Nam Water Resource Department for this MARD–JWA twinning program which was held in Japan from 10–26 November 2009. The main objectives of this program are to share information and experience on good practices in water resources management between two countries; to develop the best IWRM practice in river basins; and to strengthen the relationship between NARBO Viet Nam and JWA.
(>>See more)Based on a Memory of Understanding (MOU) signed between Japan Water Agency (JWA) and Viet Nam NARBO in March 2008, and an agreement signed between JWA and Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), Twinning Program between the two parties has been started by the dispatch of three from MARD to JWA in November 2008. The objective of the Twinning program is, as the MOU states, "to get a better understanding on Integrated Water Resources Management implemented by the other party". Furthermore, we feel that this program serves as an effective opportunity to develop tight relationship between the two parties. For the annual activity of Twinning Program, in 2009, JWA and MARD plan to exchange their personnel, two from JWA to MARD and three from MARD to JWA.
(>>See more)The titled international academic conference was organized by Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI) Kyoto University, Japan in collaboration with International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Austria. The major concern of this forum is how to put into practice the Integrated Disaster Risk Management as titled. Actually, the Integrated "Water Resources" Management seems to have the same concern.
(>>See more)The Asian Development Bank released "Water Rights and Water Allocation: Issues and Challenges for Asia" in September 2009 – the 17th in its Water for All publication series.
In 2005, the Network of Asian River Basin Organizations initiated a series of thematic workshops on water rights and water allocation. Four workshops were held in Hanoi in December 2005; in Manila and Bangkok in June and November 2006, respectively; and in Saitama in January 2007. The workshops explored the challenges associated with water allocation and water rights as experienced by the participating countries.

As a leading water management agency in Korea, K–water has enjoyed knowledge exchange and technical cooperation with NARBO member countries such as organizing the ‘3rd NARBO IWRM Training Workshop’ with the Asian Development bank (ADB) in November 2005 and conducting ADB’s Pilot and Demonstration Project to develop a water quality management system for the West Tarum Canal of the Citarum river basin (CRB) in Indonesia with PJT Ⅱ in 2007 and 2008.
