Piyadasa Koralevidana - Vice Chairperson of NARBO -
Mr.Piyadasa Koralevidana is an esteemed Lawyer by profession. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Land Settlement and Development and is a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Arts.
Mr. Koralevidana commenced his working career in the year 1967 in the Land Commissioner’s Department and held office in the post of Area Officer (Settlement) and also worked as a Divisional Officer in difficult areas of Sri Lanka. This enabled him to gain wide experience in the field of Community Development.
In 1976 he joined the Mahaweli Development Board and was later absorbed to the Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka as a Deputy Resident Project Manager of System ‘H’ in Thambuttegama. With the wide experience and knowledge he gained in the settlement of villagers in many areas of the Mahaweli Development Programme, enabled him to rise to the position of Resident Project Manager of System ‘H’.
After his tenure of office in the field, Mr. Koralevidana held various senior positions in the Head Office of the Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka as Manager/ Marketing Services, Director/Business Development and Lands, Executive Director/Development, Executive Director/Administration & Finance, Consultant/Legal & Lands and also Consultant/Legal & Project Management.
Mr. Koralevidana is presently the Director General/Chairman of the Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka which is a well reputed Organisation with a large workforce. Its functions include matters of River Basin Management, Settlement of farmer families, Water Resources Management, Construction of water infrastructure in Sri Lanka within the areas covered by Mahaweli Authority Act.
To recognize the long experience of Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka on River Basin Management in Sri Lanka, Mr Koralevidana has been elected to the post of Vice Chairperson of NARBO at its 2nd General Meeting held in Jatilahur, Indonesia 14-16 February, 2006. |
