Report of river basin study visit, Spain, 18-24 May 2010

Ministry of Economy and Finance

River basin study visit was organized by ADB, ADBI and Government of Spain (Ministry of Economy and Finance and Ministry of Environment) on 24-28 May 2010 in Madrid and Zaragoza, Spain. Around 20 senior officials from the NARBO member organizations and water related organizations in Asia participated.
The objectives of the study visit are to 1) exchange experiences and case studies on IWRM in Asian and European countries, 2) explore ways to improve water security in Asia, and 3) strengthen networking among participants, speakers and partner organizations. (>>See more)


Cooperation between JWA and Integrated Flood Management (IFM)
HelpDesk managed by World Meteorological Organization(WMO)

Group Discussion

On the request of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the Japan Water Agency (JWA) decided to cooperate as Support Base Partner with the Integrated Flood Management (IFM) HelpDesk that is managed by WMO.
Established in June 2009, by Technical Support Unit in the Hydrology and Water Resources Branch of WMO, the IFM HelpDesk is supported by a number of cooperative organizations (Support Base Partners).  The Support Base Partners provide voluntary services to give technical advice and guidance in the development of integrated flood management policy, strategy and institutional reform. These services are demand-driven and are channeled through the HelpDesk facility. (>>See more)

New Member of NARBO - Orissa Water Planning Organization(OWPO) -

Orissa Water Planning Organization formed under the Engineer-in-Chief, Planning & Design of Department of Water Resources for assessment of Water Resources of Eleven River Basins of the State. The organization is headed by the Chief Engineer with two Directors of Hydrology & Water Planning and Water Services. They are supported by five Deputy Directors and fifteen Assistant Directors along with other Technical & Administrative positions. (>>See more)
