DAY 8 (4 December 2013)

The Culminating Day…

After a week-long training in Sri Lanka, the day has come to an end. On this day, we shared our learning and river basin experiences of our respective countries. Integration of classroom sessions and field visits had contributed a lot to the conceptualization and completion of our respective basin presentations. It was certainly the Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) that contributed to the preservation of water resources as well as addressing issues on water management, water security and knowledge sharing, among others. Indeed, each of us coped with those issues and excelled in the output of this undertaking.

This day was also highlighted with a birthday bash of one of our dear friends, Mr. Das from India. Really, meaningful and sweet memories will always stay!!! Though language was the common barrier, yet we established a never ending friendship and a network with the co-participants. This was not only the place for a learning experience but also the ground for representing all of our basins as well as our beloved individual countries.

The farewell party brought sadness to our hearts ---time to bid goodbye and wish everyone a safe trip home. We need to leave yet a commitment of being an IWRM advocate and a practitioner. It must be instilled in our minds.
Also, on behalf of all co-participants of the 8th NARBO Training, I would like to express our gratitude to the NARBO Secretariat and the host country--- Sri Lanka and the the Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka , for the warm welcome, assistance and finale that you have provided us and also to our own river basin organizations for bringing us this opportunity.
Again, may the IWRM principles be a robust component of water management!!!!
