JWA visits MASL and related organization for MLIT’s commissioned workFrom 18th to 24th December 2024

In December 2024, JWA staff visited MASL to exchange opinions with their staff and tour the water resource facilities owned by MASL.

MASL is an organization that practices integrated water resources management of the Mahaweli River, which has the largest catchment area in Sri Lanka. We learned about the river's distinctive cascade system, how it makes effective use of water, how well-maintained dams and other facilities are, and the plans for further irrigation projects and expansion of water utilization.

JWA staff learned that there is much to learn from the high level of technology and attitude of MASL, which is a company with sincere commitment to effective use of water.

We also exchanged opinions with MASL about issues facing Japan and Sri Lanka in water resource management.
