The 3rd International Conference for Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) and Disaster Risk
Reduction Management (DRRM), titled "ASEAN Climate Action: Collaborative Strategies for a Sustainable Futures," was held at Vietnamese-German University in Vietnam from August 28 to 30.
Professor Orlando of Isabela University, NARBO member, spoke about the history of the conference and the events that led to its holding, and mentioned that the fourth conference would be held in Japan. He also explained that participants had come from Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Iran, and welcomed the participants from each country. He concluded by saying that this meeting, bringing together diverse stakeholders from around the world, was a valuable opportunity, and he looked forward to fruitful discussions.
At the Plenary Session held on August 28, Mr. Ota from NARBO Secretariat shared NARBO's activities and Japan's experience with the conference participants under the title "Japan's efforts to address climate change through strengthening IWRM." Mr. Higuchi from NARBO Secretariat also gave an introduction to NARBO.
Session 3, "Climate-Responsive Forest Watershed and River Basin Management," held on August 29, continued with Mr. Ota from NARBO Secretariat introducing plans for the new IWRM Guidelines, and Mr. Higuchi sharing specific examples of flood response by Japanese dam operators under the title "Dam Management by Japan Water Agency, Including Informing Local Residents about Flood Response Operations.
