The spread of COVID-19 around the world has reduced opportunities for information exchange between organizations and training, which was the original goal of NARBO's establishment. To overcome such a situation, we have held an online seminar aimed at uplifting members' enthusiasm in the form of a NARBO Webinar on December 17, 2021.

The webinar took the theme of “Challenges of River Basin Management in the New Normal era: The Pandemic is not over yet, Flood Control Must Go on”. The focus of the discussion is “Climate Change” and “Sustainability” which are still the main issues for river basin organizations until now. More than our expectation, that more than 280 people from 10 NARBO member countries joined the webinar.
In the event, the opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Ir. M. Basuki Hadimuljono, M.Sc. Minister for Public Works and Public Housing and former chairman of NARBO. Then, keynote speech was delivered by Dr. Ir. Imam Santoso, M.Sc., the CEO of Perum Jasa Tirta II who is also the current chairman of NARBO.
In the presentation session, the speakers were Professor Dr. Orlando F. Balderama of Isabela State University in the Philippines, Principal Researcher Dr. Younghyun Cho from K-water in Korea, Deputy Director General Dr. Kido from the Japan Water Agency in Japan, each gave a dazzling presentation.
In addition, Mr. Ravi Narayanan, Chair of the Asia Pacific Water Forum informed about the 4th APWS which will be held in Kumamoto from 23 to 24 April 2022, and closed by information of the next NARBO Webinar was delivered by Mr. Nobuyuki Ichihara from the NARBO Secretariat.

The webinar provides useful and informative presentations focusing on recent flooding and associated sediment management, runoff analysis, and dam operations.
In addition, through the monitor screen, we had the opportunity to see the familiar faces of our NARBO comrades in a nostalgic atmosphere, and enjoy a reunion-like atmosphere, seeing everyone's happy side throughout the session. We are delighted to be able to host this webinar successfully in this pandemic era.

The 2nd NARBO webinar will be scheduled for February or March 2022. We will notify you of the fixed date as soon as the details are decided. We look forward to your participation. We also welcome positive suggestions for content or agendas

The 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit (APWS), which was postponed due to COVID-19, will be held on 23th to 24th April, 2022 in Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. This summit meeting will also be accessible online.
